Please Join In

Dear EDUI 6704 Classmates,

I am going to blog my writing process for the assignment: "The Role of the Online Teacher" and I invite you to join in! I will post my final result to our class discussion board. In the meantime, I thought I would invite you to share your writing process for this assignment. In this blog, we should free to ask questions, offer insights and comments as we work on our thoughts. If others would like to work in this shared space, join in, please!

I want to keep the class discussion boards free from too many postings, but also wanted to have a place where we could chat without being a "bandwidth bother." In other words, I wanted a space for those who wanted to talk a bit as they process this assignment, without taking up the time of those who would rather not engage so much in the writing process of this assignment.

At present, I am working on the following start of the assignment (I will be generating more material than can be read in "one screen" and will begin the conflating process after I can get my thoughts out and take a look at them.

I look forward to having you join me in this process! Where are you starting in your writing process?

Confessions of a Cognitive Constructivist with Cognitive Processing Leanings

My teaching preferences cannot be separated from my "personal temperament ," but I am also cable of stepping outside my comfort level in my acquisition of new skills and methods of teaching. For me, learning "is" stepping outside my comfort zone and this is the learning I undertake any time I teach.

I used to hold tight to my belief that there was "no" difference between the online and face-to-face teacher. I believed that the qualities that made for an effective teacher in wither case were interchangeable. I think differently now.
